Title: I have just Buy the largest De-soldering pump in the World BEST BST-108
Post by: Kiriakos GR on March 09, 2025, 10:55:51 PM
My large shopping basket at SUNSKY end of 2024, this caused an earning of a significant amount of discount points.
Today I did complete my new order, and added in my basket and this BST-108.
The largest De-soldering pump in the World. :)

I am well aware, original product design this belongs to Japan.
Instead getting the cheapest no-name, I did select B.E.S.T. Chinese brand, which is known for many years in Europe.

My favorite de-soldering pump for 20 years, this is a Taiwanese and the body is all aluminum.
Having a spare and a much larger de-soldering pump free of charge, its not a bad deal. ;)

And also got so to test it, this PLATO Model 170, wire cutter (free of charge).

Neither A.I. this cannot translate these instructions successfully from English to English.

Even so this is a rare gift to my readers, because most morons does not pay attention at the information over the packaging. :P

My BST-108 just arrived, someone at the factory added internally a layer of thin oil.
From it viscosity, I did understand, this is equal to oil for sewing machine lubrication.

O-Ring:  Ext. 23 - Int. 18 - thickness 3mm

Teflon - Nozzle By a first look, it seems as impossible to be removed and be replaced.
The low end of the pump, nozzle holder ? ... It seems as a separate part, but with out an obvious way so this to be removed with out damaging the pump.  ???

I did extended seminars about similar products and ODM design around the globe.  :)

How much you may complain when you spent 1.58€ ?
When you discover that your pump this was not designed, so to accept nozzle replacements.

An more sad story this would be if you were aiming for a Goot GS100 Japan, and you were receiving a fake instead.
Fake = The Chinese BST-108, with molded on it the Goot GS100 Made in Japan logo

From the other side of the pond, there is a tiny factory which in the past 15 years, they melt plastic too, so them to make their own look alike product for the American market.

In summary:
If you select the Chinese BST-108, add to it 90 SAE motor oil, at O-ring and visible axle (top spring) and the tool it will do the job.
If you select the Japanese Goot, you better buy it from an authorized reseller and not due internet

If you wish to secure your future by using the BST-108, buy two instead.

The glorious days of TV repairs with huge solder joints they are long gone, I think that these large De-soldering pump they have nowadays lesser jobs to do.
They are useful but not as a primary De-soldering pump, mostly because they might shown as destructive at small PCB traces.
