Acronis Disk Director was introduced almost two decades ago, and since then, it has been a successful tool supporting a variety of use cases. Its main purpose was to manage disk partitions, particularly when there was more than one operating system on a single hard disk, and IT had to maintain dual or multiboot systems. This was a necessity before virtualization became popular.

However, as technology has evolved, new operating systems now have built-in tools to manage disk partitions, which has led to a decrease in demand for Acronis Disk Director.
