No I did not do it my self.    

One eBay seller wanted to demonstrate the build quality, and he take it apart.
I did select some pictures so to share them as educational material.

What I did like on this multimeter is the clear analog scale of meter.
Another interesting thought is how the modern SMD assembly makes the PCB to look almost empty.

The specific model looks nice for electronics work, only DC mA range which is specialized for low current measurements.
It retails just a bit lower than 40$.

Because of it I discovered what is a Taut Band meter.

I bet that this description is a natural reaction when we see pictures of analogue electronics in 2013.
The term complexity had moved now-days to SMD.

Anyway an analog meter is valuable in many cases. Many technicians are still prefer to use them, but in my own opinion the best is to have a digital meter as a basic instrument and an analog as additional. The main factor for choosing it ,is the kind of the job you want the meter.

What I was not aware as electrician, due the fact that my generation (90s) started with digital meters, is that there was also industrial grade analog ones.

After few conversations with local experts repair man in electronics ( old school) they all end saying the same thing, that the analog meter is impossible to get fooled.
