Somewhere at the end 0f the year 2023 and or beginning of 2024?
GW Instek it did
bite the bullet and discontinued the entire GDS-300 / GDS-200 portable DMM + Oscilloscope series.
First December of 2014, ITTSB Blog accepted two samples from GW Instek, the GDS-320 along of their GDP-040D differential Probe Option for a product review.
The product seemed to deliver a good level of overall satisfaction with only two reasons causing dissatisfaction.
https://www.ittsb.eu/GDS-320-Oscilloscope-Review.htmlTouchscreen was not that helpful at setting precise trigger point at oscilloscope mode = nowhere to compete with oscilloscope with dedicated trigger knob.
At DMM mode, thermometer function, the compensation for the K-type thermocouple this should be set manually = increased time so to setup the instrument.
After three years of time, it become obvious and
a third problem, and this is no other than battery life.
The aged lithium battery this started to inflate and lose it capacity.
GW Instek did the major mistake to install the battery internally over a special plate next to electronics PCB,
and only them their own service center, this would be able to replace it.
Long story in short, the owner of that product
he should accept constantly paying every three ~ four years the price of approximately 100 Euros to GW Instek, for a new installed battery.
Nowadays GW Instek discontinued the product, and they did use
a single word, with out to explain for how long time they feel obligated, them to deliver a spare battery pack.
Either way, GW Instek this now lost from their portfolio their battery powered Oscilloscope + DMM. (And neither they mention any NEW product series as replacement for it.)
Additionally in the race for
medium priced 12 Bit oscilloscope, GW Instek this has nothing available in the past two years, while their competitors from China they are now several steps ahead.
