The same story always repeat itself, I am starting to investigate one topic for any new information’s? And I get motivated to check my own bench meters and then I do discover something new.
Today I was thinking to measure the resistance of 3.5 meters of RG58 this having double shielding, I thought to use it as shielded wires at my 4 wires harness which I made for the 8846A.
I did use originally the HIOKI resistance meter, and then I did use the 8846A for confirmation.
At 130 milliohm the 8846A was fluctuating it last two digits by allot, then I am connecting by a single alligators jumper wire, the shielding of the DUT (RG58) with the only known ground over the 8846A that is the USB plug ground.
Suddenly the measurement becomes far more stable!!
This story motivated me make a high quality ground wire with USB connector this including soft clear copper 2mm diameter among with quality USB connector which I striped from old printer cable.
The USB connector were totally disassembled, solder over active contacts has be removed, all parts washed with powerful alcohol.
USB Plug among of 33 centimeter of wire this is at 3.033 milliohm.
Next step of this project will be the addition of fully shielded cable, 2x Coaxial plus external shielding which will get connected to master ground wire with the USB plug.
My new target a fully De-Noise harness of 4 Wires for very Low resistance measurements with the 8846A.
I bet that FLUKE never thought that will be someone that demanding so to get in the trouble to make such a unique harness for the
8846A.
