ITTSB Europe, this started promoting the use NiMH batteries at HH multimeter capable for
long term data logging, twelve years ago.
The know technical issue, this is only the reading of battery indicator, and this is hard to resolve with out some sort of extra setting, so the DMM to evaluate battery voltage differently than this be an Alkaline.
All HH testers evaluates their batteries as all be using Alkaline.
Approximately a year ago, HIOKI EE Japan, informed their customers about five models of HH DMM products that can use NiMH batteries.
DT4252
DT4253
DT4255
DT4256
and
DT4261
All five belong at medium sized DMM.
HIOKI EE Japan, does not explain of how their DMM will understand the difference of Alkaline or NiMH.
They might have adjust
Low Battery alarm at lower limits.
DT4282 which I still own (full size HH DMM), even with latest firmware loaded, this is excluded from this NIMH compatibility.
HIOKI EE Japan, it recommends
NiMH Panasonic eneloop® (BK-3MCC, BK-4MCC), which guarantees use in
low-temperature environments than alkaline batteries, has an operating discharge temperature range (when used in equipment)
of -20℃~50℃.HIOKI has verified that NiMH batteries can be used safely.
