Plastic cable knife JOKARI - KNIPEX Round cable dismantling - Inside parts view

I got recently the perfect wire stripper for single conductor (wire) cutting and stripping so to terminate it with ferules.
But never owned something special that removes cable sheath.
Nowadays I am now exploring all available options.

The buyers who does not do proper RTFM they are unaware that inside the tool, there is and a stored spare blade. 

All these European design of plastic tools, they are made so to handle soft cable sheath PVC, rubber, Silicone, and up to outdoor black (harder) sheath.
They are not made to strip special cables (ultra hard sheath), or armored cables.   

China replicated this tool design too, at 2025 you may find it as low as 3.5 Euro at TEMU with free shipping.
The problem with the Chinese marketing, they do not provide actual blade composition.
In photographs appears black, therefore it is hardened steel.
But beware, the clone this is 8 - 28 mm (For very large diameter of cables), and I cannot find the most popular Ø 4.0 — 16.0 mm as a clone.

The entire tools its just a little knife.
This is similar to bicycle spokes with one end this be formed in to blade.
The German marketing talks about knifes with special Titanium-Nitride coating (TIN)
This translates to regular hardened steel with a bit of coating.

I did read yesterday, a product review comment of a Greek whom got the KNIPEX, after some time the knife started to become rusty, even so the tool did not lost performance.
Another electrician mentioned, that even the best tool at this class, this will not survive more than two years of field work.

The real problem with all these tools is cable diameter capacity.
All brand manes provide two models.
Small 4 - 16 mm
Medium 8 - 28 mm
The medium cannot handle 3x0.75 power cords sheath (6.88mm diameter).

Therefore beware so to get the proper tool for you. 
The tool for 8 - 28 mm this will do a poor job even at small diameter cables (8 - 14mm).

Proper use :
1) Adjust blade length few mm lesser than conductor (conductors) diameter.
2) Assist the tool by pressing down firmly the triangle guide, so the knife to stub (get in to the sheath).
3) Rotate, two complete rotates as Max.

If the knife is unable to stub in to cable sheath? The this specific tool its not compatible for your application.

Finally a topic that I can relate to it by 100% 

All these tools has equal strengths.
Under hot weather they do a better job.
Careful handling will indeed increase their life cycle and effectiveness.

Best tool for maintenance industrial electricians this is the (Ø 4.0 — 16.0 mm).
For large diameters, you need a true heavy-duty tool, there are at much higher price point.
