When the latest regulations about the support of CAT III 1000V and CAT IV are very strict about the fuse rating in multimeters and the PCB it self (which needs to comply on special standards) it looks that there is some Chinese manufacturers which are trying to cheat by sacrificing safety.
The 6.3 X 25mm NO.AF63 is one made in China fuse which haves the physical dimensions of one HRC fuse, but it is made just
for 250V AC. It does not even have any specifications for DC !!
The branded but expensive
HRC Fuses are capable for 1000V AC/DC with
High
Rupturing
Capacity of 20,000 or 30,000 Ampere.[/b]
The NO.AF63 BS1362 IEC 269-3A is made for 6,000 Ampere. The point is that some multimeter manufacturers of the budget multimeters are using those fuses so to cheat on the final buyer.
I can not blame the manufacturer of those fuses, due the fact that he is sincere about the product specifications.
Unfortunately those fuses are found in UNI-T multimeters which are available for the Asian market.
It is interesting the fact that the same company send this meter for European GS certification with 690V fuses.
I do not know what to say here ... Does the life of the Chinese brothers electricians cost less too ?
